About the Role / Job Purpose

The position exists to support the design and engineering of EHV Transmission Lines, covering both greenfield projects and M&A projects. The role involves pre-bid engineering, post-bid value engineering, feasibility studies, risk assessment, and ensuring optimized, reliable, and compliant designs in line with Indian and international standards at optimized costs.

Principal Accountabilities / Key Responsibilities

 

Design & Engineering – EHV Transmission Line & Renewables (Greenfield & M&A Projects)

 

-Conduct detailed reviews of RFS documents to ensure optimised designs and BOQs for cost-competitive bidding in T&D TBCB projects.

-Prepare MDL and technical specification documents to invite techno-commercial proposals from EPC contractors.

-Review and approve tower accessories, including conductors, OPGW, earth wire, hardware, insulators, ACD, and tower plates.

-Review and approve MQAP for tower accessories.

-Review and approve route surveys, detailed surveys, check surveys, tower schedules, profiles, KMZ files, and tower spotting in PLS-CADD.

-Prepare scope of work, support consultant/OE appointments, review observations, and recommend mitigation measures.

-Conduct factory inspections and acceptance tests for EHV transmission line accessories.

-Ensure design adequacy and compliance during M&A projects through site visits and design reviews.

 

Technical Innovation & Solution Development

-Identify areas for process improvement within engineering and across the organisation.

-Implement and refine engineering best practices, methodologies, and standards.

-Support conceptualisation and sharing of new technology developments with wider teams.

 

Business Planning & Budget Forecasting

-Provide inputs for budgeting of Technical Services in line with the business plan, as required.

 

Developing Self and Others

-Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.

-Stay updated with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to electrical transmission systems.

 

Management Functions

-Coordinate and participate in meetings with engineering consultants.

-Interface with Hong Kong teams as required.

Skills and Knowledge

 

Educational Qualifications:

-Bachelor of Electrical Engineering

 

Functional Skills:

-Proficiency in EHV Transmission Line engineering up to 765 kV, including equipment, systems, and national/international standards.

-Knowledge of power system analysis software (ETAP, PLS-CADD) and CAD tools.

-Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.

-High attention to detail in engineering designs and documentation.

-Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and technical presentations.

 

Experience:

-Overall experience: 6+ years in designing and working with electrical EHV transmission systems.

-Minimum 5 years of experience in EHV Transmission Line design up to 400 kV.

-Familiarity with civil engineering aspects related to transmission foundations and structures is an added advantage.

-Candidates from engineering consultancy backgrounds in similar fields may also be considered.
