AMI Contract Lead

About the Role / Job Purpose

This position exists to provide pro-active and effective legal and contractual support to the business and operations activities of the Indian Business Unit (BU) and the Legal Department, particularly for AMI and utility-related projects.

 

Principal Accountabilities / Key Responsibilities

 

Legal & Contractual Support

  • - Draft, vet, and negotiate contractual conditions and specifications for infrastructure, power, utility, and AMI-related projects.
  • - Handle tender documents, joint venture/consortium agreements, MOUs, and other related legal documents.
  • - Interpret and analyze contracts and associated documentation.
  • - Prepare standard terms for purchase orders, subcontracts, and flow-down conditions.
  • - Manage and assist with litigations, claims, charges, and employment/labour-related matters, independently and with external counsels.
  • - Provide support on miscellaneous legal issues handled by in-house counsel.

Cross-functional Support

  • - Provide legal and contractual support to Procurement, Subcontracting, Projects, Tendering, and other functions within the BU.
  • - Work independently and as part of the Legal/Contracts team, including handling special projects and assignments beyond routine responsibilities.

Interactions

Internal Stakeholders:

  • - AMI State Operations Team
  • - Finance Team – DISCOM invoicing, cash collections, partner payments
  • - Legal Team – contract agreements, contractual notices, notice responses
  •  

External Stakeholders:

  • - DISCOM – project reviews, operational go-live, SLA sign-off, monthly payments
  • - IT and Smart Meter Partners – project deployment governance
  • - Consultants – cyber security audits

Dimensions

Financial Dimensions (AMI Projects):

  • - Project Cost: INR 400 Cr
  • - Annual Revenue: INR 50 Cr
  • - Purchase Value: INR 250 Cr

(These values may increase with additional projects and apply within the scope of the role.)

 

Skills and Knowledge

Educational Qualifications:

  • - LLB Graduate or Graduate Engineer

Functional Skills:

  • - Exposure to contracting in Power / Energy projects (experience in AMI projects is an added advantage)

Experience:

  • - 10+ years of relevant experience in contracts and legal support roles
