Role Summary
The Mid/Senior Engineer – Remote Monitoring System (RMS) will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing remote monitoring and communication infrastructure across the solar power plant portfolio.
The role involves troubleshooting dataloggers, IoT-based communication systems, SCADA integration, and ensuring uninterrupted real-time data acquisition for performance monitoring and reporting.
The candidate must have strong hands-on experience with dataloggers such as Wattmon and Suryalogix, along with portfolio-level communication management capability.
Key Responsibilities
Remote Monitoring & Datalogger Management
- - Installation, configuration, and commissioning of RMS devices.
- - Hands-on troubleshooting of dataloggers (Wattmon, Suryalogix, or equivalent).
- - Monitoring inverter, meter, weather station, and sensor data integration.
- - Firmware upgrades and remote configuration support.
- - Ensuring 24×7 data availability across portfolio plants.

IoT-Based Communication Management
- - Manage GPRS/4G/LTE/LoRa/RS485/Modbus communication networks.
- - Diagnose communication failures at plant and portfolio level.
- - SIM management, static IP configuration, VPN setup.
- - Coordinate with telecom providers for network uptime.
- - Root cause analysis of data loss incidents.

SCADA & System Integration
- - Integration of RMS with SCADA systems.
- - Experience in industrial communication protocols:
- - Modbus RTU / TCP-IP
- - Ethernet/IP
- - OPC
- - SCADA troubleshooting and data mapping.
- - Coordination with SCADA vendors and EPC teams.
- - (SCADA knowledge is highly preferred and will be an added advantage.)

Portfolio-Level Monitoring
- - Centralised monitoring of multiple plants.
- - Identify recurring communication issues across sites.
- - Develop SOPs for communication uptime improvement.
- - Performance analytics support for Asset Management team.
- - Ensure minimum data downtime (Target: >99% communication uptime).

Documentation & Compliance
- - Maintain communication architecture diagrams.
- - Maintain IP schema & network documentation.
- - Support audit and insurance data requirements.
- - Maintain incident logs and RCA reports.
Technical Skills Required
- - Strong knowledge of solar plant monitoring architecture.
- - Hands-on experience with:
- - Wattmon dataloggers
- - Suryalogix devices
- - IoT-based communication systems.
- - Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, Subnetting, VPN).
- - RS485 & Modbus troubleshooting.
- - SCADA integration exposure.
- - Basic understanding of inverter communication.
- - Ability to analyze data gaps & PR impact.
Experience Required
- - 6–10 years of experience in solar O&M / RMS.
- - Experience managing multi-site solar portfolio.
- - Prior exposure to C&I and utility-scale solar plants preferred.
- - Experience in handling communication issues at >50 MW cumulative capacity preferred.
Educational Qualification
- - B.E / B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Communication Engineering.
- - Additional certification in networking or SCADA will be an advantage.
