Job Description
The Assistant Sales Manager will generate and develop business with Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customers across assigned territories. The role focuses on customer acquisition, territory development, solar EPC sales, market intelligence, stakeholder relationships, and achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual business targets.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of the solar industry and the local market, with experience in rooftop and ground-mounted solar projects across CAPEX, OPEX, and Open Access models. Strong relationships with customers, DISCOMs, government authorities, tendering agencies, and other industry stakeholders will be important for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales & Business Development
- Generate new business opportunities from C&I customers across the assigned territory.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
- Identify and acquire new customers to expand the business pipeline.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets in line with organisational goals.
- Pitch the right solar solution to the right customer based on their requirements.
- Drive revenue growth while maintaining customer satisfaction.

2. Territory & Market Development
- Develop a strong understanding of the assigned territory, including its geographical, industrial, and market characteristics.
- Understand the key challenges and requirements of businesses in the territory and identify suitable solar solutions.
- Develop market intelligence around the local solar industry and customer segments.
- Identify opportunities across C&I and PSU customers.
- Monitor competitor activities and maintain an understanding of competitor mapping.
- Leverage strong local market relationships to develop new business opportunities.

3. Solar EPC & Solution Sales
- Develop a detailed understanding of solar technology and EPC solutions.
- Drive sales for rooftop and ground-mounted solar projects.
- Work across CAPEX, OPEX, and Open Access solar business models.
- Understand customer requirements and coordinate with technical teams to propose appropriate solutions.
- Stay updated on the latest solar technologies and market developments.
- Use tools such as PVSyst, Google SketchUp, and AutoCAD as required.

4. Government, Regulatory & Stakeholder Management
- Develop strong working relationships with regulators, utilities, government departments, state energy authorities, and renewable energy associations.
- Maintain relationships with state DISCOMs and nodal agencies.
- Track relevant government policies and regulatory developments affecting solar projects.
- Monitor current tenders and maintain relationships with state tendering authorities.
- Participate in relevant solar conferences, exhibitions, and industry forums.

5. Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with C&I customers and key stakeholders.
- Understand customer business requirements and identify suitable solutions.
- Represent the company professionally across customer and stakeholder interactions.
- Maintain customer satisfaction throughout the sales process.
- Manage multiple opportunities and projects while maintaining timely follow-up.

6. Business & Market Intelligence
- Track current and upcoming tenders within the assigned territory.
- Monitor competitor pricing, solutions, market activity, and positioning.
- Identify new market opportunities and potential customer segments.
- Provide market feedback and business insights to the sales leadership team.
- Stay updated on relevant policies, regulations, and technology developments.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
- 4–6 years of experience in Solar EPC Sales & Marketing.
- Experience in Commercial, Industrial, and Tendering business development is required.
- Experience in solar rooftop and ground-mounted projects is required.
- Exposure to CAPEX, OPEX, and Open Access solar project sales.
- Strong understanding of solar technology and the solar market.
- Candidates with strong knowledge and networks within the assigned territory will have an advantage.
