1. JOB PURPOSE
The position exists to support the design and engineering of EHV electrical substations and transmission systems, including:
- Pre-bid Engineering:
- Green-field Transmission projects (including TBCB).
- Adding value in feasibility studies and risk assessment for upcoming projects.
- Technical Review:
- Reviewing RFP documents to ensure optimized designs and competitive BOQs for project bidding.
- Post-Bid Engineering:
- Delivering reliable and compliant systems designed, manufactured, and tested per Indian/International standards and best practices.
- Ensuring optimized costs to maintain the reliability and integrity of assets.
3. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Design / Engineering & Technical Due Diligence
- Review RFS document technical requirements and prepare optimized designs and BOQs for competitive project bidding.
- Develop OTR, MDL, and technical specification documents to solicit techno-commercial proposals from EPC partners.
- Analyze technical proposals from bidders, create comparative sheets, address deviations, and decide on deviation acceptability.
- Perform post-bid value engineering to ensure compliant systems meeting standards at optimized costs.
- Prepare scope of work, support consultant/OE appointments, and review/mitigate observations.
- Conduct factory inspections, acceptance tests, and site commissioning reviews; address non-conformance issues.
- Conduct technical due diligence for M&A projects, including site visits, design reviews, risk assessments, and mitigation planning.
Technical Innovation & Solutions Development
- Identify areas for process improvement within the engineering team and across the organization.
- Implement and refine engineering best practices, methodologies, and standards.
- Facilitate sharing of technological advancements and innovations within the organization.
Business Planning & Budget Forecasting
- Provide inputs for technical services budgeting aligned with business plans.
Developing Self and Others
- Provide mentorship and technical expertise to junior engineers and team members.
- Stay updated with industry standards, codes, and regulations for electrical substations and transmission systems.
Management Functions
- Participate in meetings with regulators, CTU, and government bodies as necessary.
- Collaborate with engineering consultants.
Interface with Hong Kong
- Work with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders, to achieve project goals.

5. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Master’s Degree in Power Systems (preferred).
Functional Skills
- In-depth knowledge of power generating/transforming/controlling equipment.
- Expertise in HV AIS & GIS substations, transmission lines, grid-connected PV plants, and renewable energy estimation.
- Application of relevant design and engineering standards and regulations.
- Proficiency in design review and root cause analysis.
Experience
- Total Experience: 8–12 years.
- Relevant Experience:
- Expertise in renewables and transmission (substation and transmission line) business.
- Minimum 2 years of exposure to technical due diligence/design and engineering review of substations/solar and other renewable projects (preferred).
- Consultancy experience in a similar field will also be considered.
