1. Job Purpose

Business Context

Job Purpose

The position provides technical and engineering support for solar projects at Apraava Energy, focusing on:

  1. Business Growth:
    • Technical bid evaluations
    • Pre-bid engineering support
    • LCOE optimization
    • Post-bid design support
  2. M&A Projects:
    • Technical due diligence
    • Generation estimation reviews
    • Documentation and risk mitigation
  3. Technical Oversight:
    • Project execution, testing, commissioning
    • Operational performance optimization

3. Principal Accountabilities

1. Design/Engineering & Technical Due Diligence

  • Conduct feasibility studies (solar irradiance, shading analysis, energy production estimates).
  • Perform system simulations and modeling for optimal design and LCOE optimization.
  • Prepare PV system designs: array design, AC/DC layouts, cable sizing, loss calculations, etc.
  • Provide support for installation, commissioning, and plant performance tests.
  • Oversee QA/QC documentation and critical equipment inspections.
  • Conduct due diligence for M&A projects, including risk identification and performance enhancement.
  • Evaluate solar PV hybrid systems and BESS integration.

2. Technical Innovation

  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Propose innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and performance.

3. Business Planning & Budget Forecasting

  • Budget for technical services aligned with business strategies.

4. Developing Self & Others

  • Pursue continuous learning opportunities in the PV field.
  • Delegate tasks that enable team members' skill development.

5. Management Functions

  • Contribute to regional policies, standards, and O&M guidelines.
  • Facilitate technical collaboration across Apraava Energy assets.

6. Interface with Hong Kong

  • Engage with the CLP Hong Kong team on technical standards and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts for knowledge-sharing initiatives.

5. Skills and Knowledge

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/E&C Engineering (advanced degree preferred).

Functional Skills:

  • Proficiency in design and simulation tools: ETAP, CYMCAP, AutoCAD, PV-SYST.
  • Expertise in solar power technologies, electrical systems, and grid integration.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Effective communication for internal and external engagements.
  •  

Experience:

  • Overall: Minimum 12+ years of experience.
  • Specific:
    • 8+ years in multi-megawatt grid-connected solar projects.
    • Hands-on experience in DC-AC design, energy estimation, BOQ preparation, and LCOE optimization.
    • Background in consultancy preferred.
    • Familiarity with BESS and PV hybrid systems (advantageous).
    • Experience in M&A technical due diligence.
