Manufacturing Head

  • Responsible for planning, leading, directing and controlling the total manufacturing operations including all aspects of production and process activities of the unit. Annual targets are 18 Million Bottles per year.
  • The role focuses on distilling, maturation, blending, bottling, achieving production targets, delivery schedules, wastage control, theft control, cost control in line with the budget (unit cost), ERP Integration compliance, end product quality, EHS and other parameters and guidelines laid down by the organization as well as international standards by holding routine meetings with department heads, ensuring all data is collected and not tempered with and creating, implementing, monitoring, improving SOPs and KPIs from the department to process to induvial level. 
  • Ensure smooth operations and intercompany communication with finance, procurement and sales departments by sending required routine reports, holding routine meetings with the respective heads.
III. JOB DESCRIPTION 
A. DUITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Distillery, Maturation, Blending, Bottling

v Execute the vision of distillery and bottling plant and upgrade necessary infrastructure for plant with the continuous improvement efficiency and ensure a quick ROI for any CAPEX investments.

v Develop and implement production schedules based on a 5 year and 1 year demand plan ensure to support short and long term production goals 

v Manage, control and audit a vast inventory of vats and casks containing aged spirit. Ensure enough inventory according to production forecast for current and future demand for 3 year and 5 year aged products.

v Plan monthly production quantities after reviewing sales team requirements and ensure enough stock in case of supply chain disruption or unexpected demand of finished goods.

v Implement, Improve all  aspects of fermentation, distillation, maturation, blending, barrel fill operations and bottling as per the standard operating procedures of the plant. 

v Implement processes and deploy quality standards to optimize product quality to achieve and maintain a global recognition for quality. 

v Closely track plant metrics and operational performance, responding and troubleshooting alarms and resolving issues. 

v Closely track wastage and expenses to ensure wastage parameters are never exceeded and save costs for the company.

v Ensure that set costs per litre of RS production and cost per bottle of finished goods are not only not exceeded but lower than budgeted costs.

Research & Quality Control; 

v Ensure all received items are within AQL standards by spot checking all received items unless specified by SOP to conduct a 10% spot check.

v Perform final product quality and proof testing to release product for Blending. 

v Undertake research and development of new recipes and blends to enhance the existing portfolio.
v Benchmark our quality system with comparable competitors to ensure that best practice is adopted and maintained.

v Ensure quality standards, especially regarding blending and maturation, are met to ensure consistent taste, smell and colour of liquid.

Boiler & Mechanical; 

v Monitor boiler operations to ensure a safe operation and instruct to the maintenance team to resolve issues in the plant. 

v Guide the maintenance department to ensure that all equipment remains in top working order. 

v Maintain order, cleanliness and proper sanitation of production facilities, storage areas and equipment as per standards and requirements. 

v Guide the team to ensure proper operation of boiler, Reverse Osmosis (RO) system, water softener, chiller and cooling tower. 

 

Technology & Training; 

v Leverage technology such as SAP to innovate and improve efficiency of processes and systems. 

v Develop technical expertise and general knowledge of raw materials and finish spirits through training for the distilling team

v Ensure that there is a strong succession plan for talented and skilled staff with backups in place for critical roles.

 

Financial & Reporting; 

v Prepare the Monthly/Yearly Budget as well as monthly reviews as per the SOPs and report to the Management to get the approval. 

v Drive positive P&L results through achieving volume production, effective cost management and utilization of resources (equipment & human resources). 

v Ensure wastage parameters are well under targets through strict control of operations via various SOPs and individual KPIs to ensure less damage, breakage, losses or pilferage of raw materials, RS, aged stocks during stock receipt, transfer and manufacture.

 

Standard Operating Procedures; 

v Establish, implement, monitor and improve Standard Operating Procedures and KPIs for areas of responsibility in accordance with the company’s policies, code of business conduct and any applicable laws. 

v Support to maintain ISO and any other certifications and audits. 

Safety & Compliance; 

v Support compliance with all food safety and mandatory legislative requirements complying with Myanmar Government & Environmental Regulations for Distillery. 

Team Management; 

v Establish and communicate distillery production and KPI’s, helping drive process improvement. 

v Lead performance management activities including the preparation of performance evaluations, planning, assigning and directing work, handling of disciplinary matters, and others as necessary. 

v Review staffing plans to ensure they are consistent and adequate for attainment of objectives. 

IV. JOB REQUIREMENT 
A. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION 

 

  • -  Education –BE/B.Tech, PGD in Chemistry/Alcohol Technology. 
  • -  20-35 yrs. Combined experience in grain and/or molasses based Distillery, Bottling, Blending and QC. Out of which 5 years must be spent as manufacturing head. 
  • - Experience in controlling cask maturation is required.
  • -  Involvement in Commissioning or renovation of Distillery is desirable (added advantage) 
  • -  Some form of ERP system experience is desirable (added advantage)
  • -  Experience working in a more turbulent country (added advantage)
