Business Development

 

SECTION A: POSITION SUMMARY

Objective & Purpose:
This is a senior position in the BD&C (Business Development & Contracting) function, working closely with the function head to achieve stated targets. The role involves leading project development, bidding, and contracting activities for renewable energy projects.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Origination:
    • Resource mapping across India.
    • Engaging with OEMs and developers for license acquisition and joint developments.
    • Experience in Gujarat (STU and CTU) and other resource-rich states (CTU) is an advantage.
    •  
  • Investment Identification:
    • Identifying commercially viable projects that align with Vena Energy’s return/risk expectations.
  • Project Development:
    • Handling greenfield and brownfield projects, incorporating inputs from Engineering, Projects, Land, Approvals teams.
    • Developing agreements with OEMs and developers to secure exclusivity for bids.
    • Conducting site visits and due diligence to mitigate project risks.

  • Regulatory & Compliance:
    • Ensuring clarity on bidding guidelines, PPAs, and approvals from regulatory bodies.
    • Interfacing with MNRE, SECI, PGCIL, CTU, CEA, MOP, and industry forums (WIPPA, NSEFI, ASSOCHAM, etc.).
    • Advocating for policies that align with company interests.

  • Pre-construction Approvals & Power Offtake:
    • Securing PPA agreements and grid connections.
    • Negotiating Power Offtake Agreements on favorable terms.
    • Supporting the procurement team in structuring contracts for wind, solar, and hybrid projects.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Maintaining relationships across government bodies, developers, and OEMs.
    • Ensuring participation in shortlisted bids while coordinating with finance, legal, CS, and other teams.

  • New Business Development:
    • Identifying and developing Hybrid, BESS, Floating Solar, Offshore Wind, Hydrogen projects.
    • Tracking upcoming Government Bids/Tenders for renewable energy supply at central and state levels.
    • Monitoring changing technologies (module, tracker, inverter, WTG models, BESS).

  • Competition & Market Research:
    • Tracking competitors, benchmarking industry trends, and identifying new opportunities.
    • Researching commercially viable PPAs and market developments.

SECTION B: QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
