Head of Quality – Renewable Power Plants (Solar, Wind, BESS)

Job Summary:
The Quality Head will lead and oversee all quality-related activities, from material procurement to execution, commissioning, and the smooth transition from projects to the Asset and Operations teams at the Renewable Power Plants (Solar, Wind, Battery Energy Storage Systems - BESS).

This role ensures compliance with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements while driving the implementation of effective quality assurance and control processes. The Quality Head is pivotal in safeguarding the plants' operational efficiency, safety, and long-term performance, ensuring a seamless handover to operations post-commissioning.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Vendor Management:

  • Supply Vendor Evaluation: Assess new suppliers for the organization, focusing on capabilities, processes, standards, testing facilities, prior performance, and adherence to EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) protocols.
  • EPC/ I&C Vendor Evaluation: Analyse new vendors based on previous project execution, team qualifications, tools, quality procedures, and documentation.
  • Performance Management: Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the quality of materials and equipment supplied. Conduct audits and performance evaluations of vendors to maintain high standards.

Quality Management System (QMS):

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive QMS tailored to the needs of the renewable power plants, ensuring alignment with relevant standards and regulations.

Quality Control:

  • Establish and enforce quality control procedures throughout the plant lifecycle, from procurement to construction, operation, and maintenance.

Inspection & Testing:

  • Oversee the inspection and testing of equipment, materials, and processes, ensuring they meet quality standards and specifications.

 

 

Performance Monitoring & Improvement:

  • Continuously monitor plant performance, identifying areas for improvement in both quality and efficiency. Analyse data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to resolve quality-related issues.

Audits & Compliance:

  • Conduct internal and external quality audits to assess the effectiveness of the QMS, ensuring compliance with both regulatory requirements and organizational standards.

ISO Certifications:

  • Ensure timely audits and maintain IMS (Integrated Management System) certifications within the organization.

Root Cause Analysis:

  • Lead investigations into quality-related incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.

Documentation Management:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality records, including inspection reports, test results, and audit findings.

Training & Development:

  • Develop and deliver training programs to plant personnel, enhancing their understanding of quality standards, processes, and procedures.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive initiatives for continuous improvement aimed at enhancing the plant’s quality performance, operational efficiency, and overall effectiveness.

Safety Culture:

  • Foster a strong safety culture within the team and ensure that all quality-related activities are carried out in a safe, environmentally responsible manner.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s/master’s degree in engineering (Electrical) or a related field.
  • Overall 15+ years of work experience & min 10+years of experience in quality management, preferably within the renewable energy or power generation industry.
  • A strong understanding of quality management principles and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 55001, 27001).
  • At least 5 years of experience in a solar power plant & handful experience Wind environment is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
